01 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE PIXELS
Always becoming.
I’m João, a Brazilian developer from Belo Horizonte, now making a life in Rio de Janeiro. I build software, train on the mats, and follow ideas until they turn into something real.
I’m drawn to the whole process: the first sketch, the stubborn problem, the small detail that makes something feel right. My projects are a way of learning, and a way of putting a little more of myself into the world.
02 / TOOLS OF THE TRADE
From idea to working.
TypeScript, React, and the browser. Python, FastAPI, and NestJS on the backend. PostgreSQL for the things that need to last.
I work across the stack: interfaces, APIs, data, and deployment. Docker, GitHub Actions, and cloud infrastructure help me take a project from my machine to something people can use.
Right now I’m exploring typography, Canvas, and the space between a useful interface and an unexpected experience.

Ideas, made tangible.
Recherche — a marketplace for Brazilian luxury resale. Catalogs, authentication, product media, and the systems behind a real transaction.
Café Ops — software for the everyday work of a tattoo studio. A shared backend and interfaces for the people who keep it running.
Been — a personal travel map. Places, memories, and photographs, collected in one small corner of the web.
04 / A CONTINUING EDUCATION
Stay a student.
My education is still unfolding. I learn by building, reading the documentation, breaking things, and understanding why they broke.
My current studies include electrical engineering entrance preparation, data engineering, infrastructure, and the fundamentals of the web.
The thread connecting them is curiosity: get closer to how a system works, then make something with that understanding.
05 / BEYOND THE SCREEN
Another kind of practice.
Jiu-jitsu and luta livre are part of my life. The mats teach things a screen can’t: patience under pressure, honest feedback, and the value of showing up again.
That interest also becomes a project. I’m developing a grappling championship concept rooted in Rio’s fighting community.
Training and building share a rhythm. Try something. Pay attention. Adjust. Come back tomorrow.

Thinking out loud.
I keep a growing collection of notes on what I’m learning: software, products, and the decisions that turn an idea into a working project.
Writing helps me slow down enough to understand something. The notes are a record of the process — questions, discoveries, and things I want to try next.
This portfolio is another experiment in that collection. A portrait built from words, slowly becoming a story.
